Back in Dokki, I stopped at Metro market for a beet salad.
On the way I spotted these two girls and their parents. I asked the father if I could take a picture and if they were “walking with the people.” Smiling, he responded, “Insha’allah” meaning yes, God willing.
The Qasr El-Nile bridge which connects Dokki with Zamalek with downtown was completely closed - shut off by the presence of hundreds of helmeted black security soldiers. The soldiers appeared lazy and disorganized. Slumping on the sidewalks and clustered along gates. From balconies of the Sheraton, people gawked at the bold sea of black. Their presence was more of a symbol than a threat. Invasive and too close to home.
The picture at the top was taken a half block from the Dokki Metro station stop on Tahrir Street. West of Dokki Street, Tahrir had already been blocked off. As we boarded the Metro, other roads were being closed:
This morning Sean & I went into 88.9 Radio Milwaukee to hype up Riverwest Fest. Big thanks to Jordan and Ben Wick for helping to hook it up.

different spots, same aims
A lot of questions have arisen regarding the game plan for The Eagle’s Nest. Why all the fund-raising? Why all ages? Why non-profit? Why bother?
Milwaukee deserves and needs a sustainable, all ages arts space. We have a thriving and very supportive community of artists and musicians, but lack organized spaces to host all ages events. MKE on the map
